Irish showjumper Jessica Kurten won the latest Rolex FEI World Cup event held in Mechelen, Belgium today.
Kurten, riding Castle Forbes Myrtille Paulois, held off a strong home challenge to win a four horse jump-off from an original entry of 37.
Kurten’s time of 39.94 seconds edged Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet (Sea Coast Cortes C) into second spot, with another Belgian combination – Jos Lansink and Casper van Spieveld – third.
It was a disappointing day though, for the two British hopefuls – Guy Williams and Ellen Whitaker.
Williams, the recently-installed British number one, collected eight faults on Torinto van de Middlestede and had to settle for 26th place, while Whitaker retired during her round aboard Equimax Ocolado.
