Friday check for Musselburgh
Musselburgh’s meeting on Saturday is subject to an 8.30am inspection on Friday as part of the track is still frozen.
After weeks of freezing overnight temperatures the thaw is taking longer than expected, but the forecast is giving officials hope.
Acting clerk of the course Harriet Graham said: “We’ve just walked the course and it has not shifted as much as we would have liked and about 70% is still frozen.
“It’s the ground temperatures that are the problem as it has been frozen for so long. It’s a slow process.
“If the forecast is right we should be OK but we’ll have a look before declaration time. It’s likely to go to the wire.
“We could do with some wind and rain just to speed the process up a bit as at the minute, nothing is happening.”
