Wetherby’s meeting on St Stephen's Day has been abandoned due to frost.

Wetherby’s meeting on St Stephen's Day has been abandoned due to frost.

The fixture, featuring the coral.co.uk Rowland Meyrick Chase, was also abandoned last year.

The Yorkshire course are also scheduled to race on Monday, but that meeting is subject to an inspection at 10am on Friday.

Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson said: “It was minus 5C last night and it is only zero now but with a biting wind chill.

“It is supposed to be around minus 5C tonight with negative temperatures all day tomorrow.

“Christmas night could be as cold as minus 15C and there is no sign of a thaw.

“The course is not completely frozen solid but it is in some areas.

“We’ll inspect at 10am tomorrow for Monday. The track won’t change by then, but the forecast might.”
