Huntingdon frozen out
Huntingdon today became the latest casualty of the icy blast – with their meeting on St Stephen's Day having been abandoned.
Clerk of the course Andrew Morris had announced a 12pm inspection on Christmas Eve, but moved forward that assessment to 9am on Thursday.
A routine check found the Cambridgeshire circuit to still be frozen.
Morris said: “We have had frost covers down all week, but we suspected frost had crept under the covers.
“We started to remove them first thing in the morning, and it became pretty evident the frost was deep and widespread.”
