Carlisle's meeting on Sunday has been abandoned due to a frozen track.

Course officials only announced an inspection just before 10am on Friday but less than two hours later the meeting had been lost.

Clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch said: "We've had to abandon, we've got no chance.

"The temperatures could get as low as -9C and the highest we could reach is -1C.

"The track is still frozen solid now and it's-2C.

"We don't race again until February so with a bit of luck we might have thawed out by then."
