Uttoxeter off due to snow

This afternoon's fixture at Uttoxeter has been abandoned due to snow.

Although the track is raceable beneath the frost covers, the protective fleecing has been anchored down by unexpected snow.

Clerk of the course Charlie Moore delivered the news upon inspecting the track for a second time at 9am.

He said: "There was always a possibility we might get some (snow) but it wasn't forecast this morning.

"We have over a centimetre of snow on the track and cannot lift the covers, which are frozen and would just rip if we tried to get them off.

"We tried our socks off, but we can't beat Mother Nature."
