Hopes high for Fairyhouse card

Fairyhouse finally look like staging their much rearranged multi Grade One meeting on Wednesday after the course was passed fit following an inspection.

The star-studded fixture, including the Bar One Hatton's Grace Hurdle, should have been staged on November 28, but has been put back several times because of the big freeze.

However, the track is now raceable with the ground described as soft, and officials will continue to monitor conditions.

There is a double bonus to the card with the addition of the John Durkan Memorial Chase with Punchestown being lost and the O'Connell Group Hilly Way Chase moved from Cork's abandoned programme.

As a result the John Fowler Memorial EBF Mares Chase and the Bar One Racing Porterstown Handicap Chase have been deleted from the original Fairyhouse card.

"We are monitoring the situation, but at the moment we are raceable," said acting racecourse manager Peter Roe.

"The forecast is giving us a bit of cold weather tomorrow evening, but at the moment it's all systems go."
