This afternoon’s fixture at Huntingdon, featuring the valuable totesport.com Peterborough Chase, is now subject to a third inspection at 11am.
Parts of the track are still slightly frozen in places following an overnight low of minus 4C.
Clerk of the course Andrew Morris has already staged two inspections, at 8am and 10am, but the mercury has at least now risen above freezing.
Morris said: “Temperatures are rising and the sun came out when we were inspecting, so it gave us a bit more of a hope.
“We’re still not fit for racing, though, and we need things to improve.
“We are forecast plus 1C overnight but we got to minus 4C, which caught everyone by surprise.”
