Fontwell to check at 2pm

Fontwell have called an inspection for 2pm today ahead of tomorrow’s meeting.

Temperatures at the track dropped well below freezing overnight and clerk of the course Ed Arkell admits improvement is needed.

“We are soft, frozen in places after the temperature dropped to minus 6C overnight,” he said.

“It is forecast to be a maximum of 2C today and while we have all the racing lines and everything covered, with a frost that hard is gets underneath the covers.

“We don’t want to mess people about so we will have a look at 2pm, which should be the warmest point of the day, and just see where we are going from there.”
