Officials at Lingfield have announced a 6am precautionary inspection ahead of their meeting on Monday due to the threat of further snow and ice.

Although conditions on the all-weather track remain raceable at present, and Sunday’s fixture goes ahead, the forecast for the next 24 hours has forced clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross to call an early-morning check for Monday.

“We could potentially get some more snow overnight and also some freezing fog and very cold temperatures again,” said Mackenzie Ross.

“We are fine to race today but we just thought we should look again on Monday morning in view of the forecast.”
