Warwick beaten by morning frost

This afternoon’s meeting at Warwick has been abandoned due to frost.

Although the course escaped freezing temperatures overnight, conditions have worsened this morning and clerk of the course Andrew Morris has been forced to call off proceedings.

“We were above freezing all night and at 5.30am we were pretty confident,” said Morris.

“However, since then we’ve had freezing fog descend upon us, temperatures have plummeted and we can see the frost going back in the ground.

“We are below freezing now and we’re only forecast to get up to plus 1C or plus 2C today, so with that in mind, there is really no prospect of conditions improving enough for racing to go ahead.”
