Fontwell cancel planned inspection
Fontwell have been able to cancel their planned inspection for 11am tomorrow ahead of Tuesday’s meeting after a sharp upturn in temperatures.
The course had been covered in snow and had been hit by sub-zero temperatures but following rain and a mild night hopes are now high the meeting can go ahead.
Clerk of the course Ed Arkell said: “Everything has gone. When I left here yesterday afternoon there was still six inches of snow on the track.
“However, it was 5C last night and we had 4mm of rain which has helped shift it.
“We have further rain forecast and we are hoping to get fleece covers down tomorrow in case we get the forecast frost on Monday night. Touching all available wood, I hope we’ll be OK.”
