Fontwell call early check for Tuesday meeting

Officials at Fontwell will stage an 11am inspection on Sunday morning ahead of their scheduled Tuesday fixture.

The course is currently covered with snow but clerk of the course Ed Arkell is not giving up hope with warmer temperatures forecast over the next 48 hours.

“We currently have six inches of snow on the track with the odd frozen place, but it’s a bright sunny day this afternoon,” said Arkell.

“We are currently around 1C and the snow is melting very slightly. We are also forecast some warmer temperatures and some rain from tonight until Sunday.

“If we got that and the snow cleared, then we would have a chance of racing. The thinking is that by Sunday morning, we will have a better idea of where we stand.”
