Carlisle on frost alert
Carlisle are “pessimistic” about Sunday’s meeting being given the go-ahead after the track succumbed to a heavy overnight frost.
An 11am inspection on Saturday has been called after temperatures dipped to minus 5.4C.
The forecast looks grim, with snow showers and freezing temperatures recurrent themes.
Carlisle managing director John Baker said: “We were raceable on Thursday, but last night was very cold.
“The forecast is not looking great – we are due to go around the minus 4C mark on Friday, with the possibility of snow.
“The forecast for Saturday is around minus 6C so we had to call an inspection. I try to be hopeful, but if the forecast is correct I would be pessimistic of the meeting being on.”
