Conti blitz in Persian War

Silviniaco Conti looked a fine prospect when maintaining his unbeaten record with an impressive victory in the totesport.com Persian War Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow.

The French import had made a successful British debut for trainer Paul Nicholls at Bangor two weeks earlier and he stepped up in tremendous style.

Frascati Park took the field along from William Hogarth and did not give in when challenged until a bad mistake at the third-last finally finished him off.

Silviniaco Conti (7-2) was sent on by Noel Fehily and the result was never in doubt from then on.

His jumping was very good for a novice and he bounded home by 10 lengths from Captain Chris.

Frascati Park stuck on to take minor honours, some 13 lengths away.
