Native has Trophy option

Native Khan may swerve Saturday’s Dubai Dewhurst Stakes in preference for the Racing Post Trophy a week later.

The unbeaten juvenile was last week reported on course for the Newmarket feature, in which star two-year-olds Frankel, Saamidd and Dream Ahead are poised to take the plunge.

Trainer Ed Dunlop has been provoked into a rethink, however, with Doncaster’s Group One on Saturday week also under consideration – as long as conditions are suitable.

Dunlop told the Daily Mail: “We’ll assess the opposition and study the long-range weather forecast for Doncaster.

“We are lucky that the weather seems set to be good until Thursday, when we have to declare for the Dewhurst.

“Then it will be whether we wait until Doncaster.

“Wait and have soft ground there and we’d be running in nothing.

“If there is a possibility of good or fast ground at Doncaster, I would think Native Khan will go there.”
