Sarafina could stay in training next season following her luckless run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.
Alain de Royer-Dupre’s filly was almost brought down before the turn for home in Europe’s premier middle-distance contest, as Aidan O’Brien’s pacemaker Midas Touch dropped back quickly through the field.
She was in the rear group approaching the straight, but sprouted wings to finish third behind Workforce and Japanese raider Nakayama Festa.
Her trainer believes she would have finished much closer but for meeting interference and hopes she will be given another chance in 2011.
“We were very happy with her performance and she has come out of the race perfect, but we were not lucky in the race,” said de Royer-Dupre.
“The lead horse from Coolmore came back into us and then we finished well, but she did not have a hard race because it was too late.
“I don’t think she will run again this year, but it is possible she will stay in training next season.”
