Thornton primed for action

Andrew Thornton is looking forward to getting back in the saddle at Towcester on Wednesday after a couple of months on the sidelines with injury.

The Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning jockey broke his arm in a fall back in August but he returns to action with three rides tomorrow.

“I’m looking forward to getting back. I haven’t missed an awful lot but it’s nice to get busy again,” said Thornton.

“I always think the jump season properly gets going after the Arc is out of the way and I’m looking forward to it.

“I broke by left arm on August 6 so it’s exactly two months to the day tomorrow.

“It was a clean fracture so it wasn’t too serious and to be honest, it was a bit like it was in the good old days when we had a break in the summer.

“In the grand scheme of things it was actually quite nice to have a break and let the batteries recharge.

“Hopefully three rides tomorrow will blow the cobwebs away.”
