Valley high for Rouget in Opera
Jean-Claude Rouget’s Lily Of The Valley got the better of her better fancied stable companion Stacelita in the NYSE Euronext Prix De L’Opera at Longchamp.
The latter was sent off the clear favourite to record her fifth Group One triumph and all appeared to be going to plan when she eased to the front at the top of the home straight.
Lily Of The Valley and Ioritz Mendizabal quickly went in pursuit and while for a long time it looked as though the gap was too big, Stacelita tired late on and Lily Of The Valley swept past her to take top honours.
