Aspect causes Ascot shock

Aspectoflove just denied the favourite Sajjhaa in a tight finish to the Deloitte Rosemary Handicap at Ascot.

Ted Durcan got the Godolphin-owned filly home by a nose from Philip Robinson’s mount to spring a 20-1 surprise.

I’m A Dreamer was a length and a half away in third with Bahati fourth after Bintalwaadi had made the running.

Aspectoflove was the Godolphin second string with Frankie Dettori on the unplaced Long Lashes for trainer Saeed bin Suroor.

“When she ran in Dubai, we got her to come from behind and she was second twice,” said bin Suroor.

“The way she works in the morning is brilliant. She was happy and relaxed in the race, that is what she likes to do.

“We will look for a Group race for her in the future.”

Durcan added: “She had run over the winter so she needed a holiday. She’s been freshened up, (the holiday) sweetened her up and today the ease in the ground helped her too.

“In the last six strides it was a matter of heads and luckily on the line it went our way.”
