Shadow cast over Bridge Of Gold campaign

Mikael Magnusson has been forced to shelve plans for a tilt at the Canadian International with Bridge Of Gold after the Ebor third pulled a muscle on the gallops.

The highly-rated four-year-old jumped a shadow, which caused the injury.

Magnusson had planned the trip to Woodbine next month after the Giant’s Causeway colt ran such a big race on his seasonal debut at York.

“He’s not going to Canada. He jumped a shadow here the other day and stretched a muscle,” said the Berkshire-based handler.

“It’s unbelievable, he’s pulled a muscle and it will mean he has to have two weeks off. It’s a huge disappointment.

“I think it will be four to five weeks before he is sound but I haven’t looked to see if there is another race for him – I’ll probably just wait and take him back to Dubai.

“It’s an unbelievable disappointment.

“He was flying at home, he would have improved massively from his run in the Ebor.”
