Chepstow fixture switched to Bath

Chepstow have been forced to abandon their Monday fixture and the meeting will now be switched to Bath on the same day.

Officials at the Welsh venue called off last Thursday's meeting as clerk of the course Keith Ottesen was not happy with some areas of the track and experts have since diagnosed an outbreak of root gall nematodes.

Ottesen called a 9am inspection for this morning but after checking the track, he has decided the turf will not recover in time for next week and the meeting will now be transferred to fellow Northern Racing track Bath.

Ottesen said: "We don't think the track will be ready for racing next week and we're not going to take a chance having not yet eradicated the problem.

"The meeting will be transferred to Bath racecourse on the same day and we're just working on the details of that now.

"We've got more meetings to have with the scientists involved who actually know about this problem before we continue the work that needs to be done."

Any revisions to race distances will be disclosed later today.

The British Horseracing Authority have announced that all seven races will be transferred from Chepsow to Bath, with the only major distance change being in the Sunshine Radio Handicap.

The contest was originally due to be run over seven furlongs but due to the lack of a seven-furlong start at Bath, it will now be a mile and a quarter race.
