Kingsgate Native is firmly on course to bid for his second win in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York later this month.
The five-year-old won the Knavesmire Group One as a juvenile for John Best back in 2007, but is now in the care of Michael Stoute following an unsuccessful stint at Cheveley Park Stud.
Creditable efforts in the King’s Stand Stakes and July Cup suggest he still retains plenty of ability and Cheveley Park’s managing director Chris Richardson is looking forward to York.
“He’s in very good form and has been freshened up nicely since Newmarket,” said Richardson.
“We didn’t want him to go to the Audi Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and carry a penalty so we saved him for York and we’re looking forward to it.
“I went to see him work last Saturday and everything went very well.
“These sprinters seem to have their days and on his day we know he’s a very good horse.”
