Glory for Dettori at York

Frankie Dettori came in for a spare ride on Face The Problem in the Skypoker.com Stakes at York and will have known very early it was going to be a winning one.

Barry Hills' 7-4 favourite had won at Windsor over six furlongs last time out and had no trouble with the drop down to the minimum distance, looking a classy colt in the making.

He was supposed to be ridden by Hills' son, Michael, but he got stuck in traffic near Tadcaster so the Italian stepped in and gave the crowd a wave as he passed the post a length and a quarter clear of Brave Dream.

Assistant trainer Charlie Hills said of the Alex Ferguson-owned winner: "He's got bags of speed and Frankie said the Flying Childers could be the race for him.

"He's in the Gimcrack, but he's got so much toe we might be best sticking to five furlongs for now, we can always go six later.

"He drifted left again, like he did at Windsor, but I think that's just inexperience."

Dettori added: "He's got tremendous speed and I felt like I had everything beaten at halfway, he was just cruising."

Tracy Waggott landed the biggest win of her career when Destinys Dream (8-1) won the skybet.com E.B.F Fillies' Stakes .

The five-year-old was back down in trip but benefited from a strong pace to deliver a fatal blow inside the last furlong.

Her resilience was tested late on with the challenge of Akhmatova but Andrew Mullen punched her out to score by half a length.

"Today's race had been in mind for a while and I'm delighted," said Waggott.

"She only just gets the mile and a half at Doncaster so a drop in trip today was ideal.

"I was delighted that it's dried up as she loves quick ground."
