Fairy aiming for more Oaks magic

Snow Fairy is on course for the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh on July 18 following her success in the Epsom equivalent last month.

Snow Fairy will be aiming to follow the example of Ed Dunlop’s star filly Ouija Board, who claimed the double in 2004, while the Newmarket trainer also landed the Irish race with Lailani in 2001.

“Her initial target is the Irish Oaks. As long as everything is fine she will be supplemented for that and Ryan Moore will hopefully ride again,” Dunlop told At The Races.

“She’s in good form and did her first piece of work last week after Epsom and we were pleased with that.

“She looks stronger, she’s not the biggest filly, but we know she’s got a big heart from the way she won.

“The long straight at the Curragh will suit her and I think it will also suit the runner-up (Meeznah), she was an inexperienced filly.

“I believe the winner of the Ribblesdale is going to run and possibly the runner-up and no doubt Aidan O’Brien will have a say too.

“There may not be many runners, but I’m sure it will be an open affair and if we could pull it off again it would be great. We’ll wait and see.”

Kevin Prendergast is likely to rely on Crystal Gal as his representative after ruling out Termagant with a pulled muscle.

“We may have one runner, Crystal Gal. the other filly (Termagant) has pulled a muscle and won’t be able to run,” said the Curragh trainer.

“Things are not going to plan at the moment, but please God she’ll be back later on.”
