Laddies to swerve Stewards' Cup

Laddies Poker Two will not bid for another handicap success with trainer Jeremy Noseda ruling the Royal Ascot winner out of the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood.

The grey filly returned from a year and a half off the track to make a mockery of her handicap mark as the gambled-on 9-2 favourite in the Wokingham Stakes last month and heads the market alongside Genki for the Stewards’ Cup.

However, Noseda is aiming the five-year-old at a higher level and after skipping Friday’s Darley July Cup she will next be seen at Newbury on Saturday week.

“She won’t be going to the Stewards’ Cup as we have done the handicap bit,” said Noseda.

“She will run next in the Hackwood Stakes. It is her second run back after a lay-off and you have to be careful running them back quickly, but the Hackwood gives us more time than going for the July Cup.”
