O'Brien has Ascot in sight

At First Sight is out to prove his extraordinary run in the Investec Derby was no fluke in tomorrow's King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The Galileo colt has only won a Gowran maiden but had been placed in both the Ballysax and Derrinstown Stud Derby Trials before lining up at Epsom.

Sent off at 100-1 in the premier Classic in anticipation of his pacemaking duties for better-fancied Aidan O'Brien runners, he surprised everyone by streaking around 10 lengths clear rounding Tattenham Corner and was only caught by record-breaking Workforce.

"At First Sight did a bit of work on Monday morning, only gentle obviously, and Johnny (Murtagh) was very happy with him, he seems to be in good form," said O'Brien.

"Obviously we always thought that he was a strong, Group-class horse but he went along at a nice pace at Epsom and finished it off well.

"That was his first run over a mile and a half and we felt the time before at Leopardstown that he got 10 furlongs really well and we thought he'd get further.

"He caught a lot of people by surprise. I think Tom Queally's horse (Bullet Train) who was sat in second just struggled coming down the hill and he just got away from them a little bit.

"We were delighted with him and we always felt he'd step up in trip."

Green Moon arrives on the back of an impressive display in a Newmarket Listed event and his trainer Harry Dunlop is looking forward to seeing how he fares on his first foray in Pattern company.

"We just felt he deserved a tilt at this as he ran a super race at Newmarket last time," said Dunlop.

"We also entered him in the Listed Hampton Court Stakes but we just felt that while the King Edward wouldn't be easy, it has cut up a bit from what it could have been.

"It would have been better if the Aidan O'Brien horse wasn't running but our fellow is in good form and I think he'll stay a mile and a half.

"I don't think the drying ground should worry him too much and they are watering to make sure it's safe.

"We don't have a huge amount of horses and it's only my third season training so it's fantastic to have something good enough to come to Royal Ascot."

Godolphin's Buzzword was supplemented into the Derby field at a cost £75,000 (€89,760) where he finished eighth for first-season trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni.

Previously he came home fourth in the French Guineas, form which has been franked by the winner Lope De Vega.

"Buzzword has run with credit at all of the major meetings throughout his career and deserves to take his chance at Royal Ascot," said Al Zarooni on www.godolphin.com.

"I thought that he stayed the mile and a half of the Investec Derby but came up against some very tough opposition.

"He is a very tough and consistent horse and the step back to Group Two company should help him. He goes into the race with a good chance."
