Sarafina and Deluxe lead Diane possibles
Sarafina and Deluxe are set for a rematch from the Prix Saint-Alary in Sunday’s French Oaks (Prix de Diane) at Chantilly.
The former, who beat her rival by half a length, is one of four potential runners for Alain de Royer-Dupre along with the French 1000 Guineas fourth Rosanara.
Deluxe’s unbeaten record was ended in the Saint-Alary a fortnight ago and she is the only representative for Andre Fabre, whose Lope de Vega won the French Derby last Sunday.
The other interesting contender may be the Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Zagora.
Although there is still an opportunity to supplement a runner, just 13 fillies remain in this weekend’s Classic.
The only British challenger, Paul Cole’s Pink Symphony, has been declared to run at Newbury on Thursday.
