Cecil pleased with Twice Over workout

Henry Cecil cranked up Twice Over’s preparations for the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 16 with a gallop over nine furlongs on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket.

Big-race pilot Tom Queally was aboard the five-year-old and the pair strode nicely clear of stablemate Tranquil Tiger under Eddie Ahern.

The Champion Stakes winner has been off the track since finishing down the field in the Dubai World Cup in March and will bid to improve on his fourth place finish at the Royal meeting when beaten a length in the Prince Of Wales’s last year.

Cecil said: “It was a nice piece of work and he quickened away well.

“He seems in good form and the idea was to get the adrenaline going with the Prince Of Wales’s in mind as he has not raced since Dubai.

“He could go for the Eclipse after Ascot if we are happy with him. There is also the Juddmonte International and the Champion Stakes, which he won last year, and he could go back to the Breeders’ Cup again.

“He does like a bit of give in the ground but those are the races open to him and he could go for some of them.”
