Fleeting Spirit sidesteps York return

Fleeting Spirit will not make her seasonal debut in Wednesday’s Duke Of York Blue Square Stakes at York.

Though happy with her condition, trainer Jeremy Noseda has decided to give last summer’s Darley July Cup winner more time before putting her back on the racecourse.

The five-year-old mare could now reappear in the betfred.com Temple Stakes at Haydock on May 22 or wait for Royal Ascot where she holds entries in the King’s Stand Stakes, in which she was second last summer, and the Golden Jubilee Stakes.

“Fleeting Spirit will miss next week’s Duke of York Stakes but I am very pleased with how she is coming to hand,” the Newmarket trainer told his official website, www.jeremynoseda.com.

“We’ll see how we go but she could reappear in the Temple Stakes at Haydock or if not, we’ll go straight to Royal Ascot.”
