Saturday's fixture at Newton Abbot has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore was set to stage an inspection on Thursday afternoon, but saw no reason to delay the inevitable.

He said: "We decided to have a look this afternoon as there were some areas causing us particular concern.

"We've got further rain forecast but even if that didn't materialise, those areas causing us problems mean that the course wouldn't be fit in time for racing on Saturday.

"We decided to draw stumps early and let everyone know exactly where they stand.

"It's disappointing as it's a good Easter fixture for us."
