Bleak forecast for Gowran's Wednesday meeting

Irish Turf Club officials will stage a course inspection at Gowran at 8.30am tomorrow to assess the prospects of racing on Wednesday.

Although the course is currently raceable, an adverse weather forecast has prompted an early check.

Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “They really want to make a decision one way or another before declaration time on Tuesday.

“The situation is not great as the forecast is unsettled, with lots of rain forecast and also the possibility of sleet and snow.”
