Deegan hoping Lady is a champ
Paul Deegan is looking forward to getting Lady Springbank’s season under way in the Leopardstown 1000 Guineas Trial on Sunday.
The daughter of Choisir won two of her five starts as a juvenile and signed off the season with a Group Three success at the Curragh.
A return to that venue for the Irish 1000 Guineas is her primary aim for the season but Deegan wants to get a run into his star filly first.
“Her preparation has gone well, we’re looking forward to getting her started,” said Deegan.
“She seems in very good form and hopefully she’ll run a big race on Sunday and then it will be on to the Curragh for the big one.
“She’s a big, tall filly and always looked like she’d make a better three-year-old.
“I do think she’s strengthened up a good bit and hopefully it will be an exciting season.
“I think she’ll stay a mile no problem and we’ll just have to see how she handles the ground as it looks as though it’s going to be quite testing.
“We always thought she would be better with a bit of cut in the ground but we’ll learn a lot more about her this weekend.”
