Chepstow pass inspection

This afternoon’s fixture at Chepstow has survived a 7am inspection and goes ahead as scheduled.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen was forced to assess conditions due to an unfavourable overnight forecast of heavy rain.

Although the ground is heavy, Ottesen was content to give the meeting the all-clear.

He said: “We had six millimetres (of rain) overnight but we are currently dry and clear.

“There is the possibility of shower later on, but we’ve scraped across the line.”
