Devereux six weeks off comeback
Donal Devereux looks set to be on the sidelines for at least another six weeks after suffering multiple injuries in a fall at Doncaster earlier this month.
The 5lb claimer, who rides for Peter Bowen, was partnering the John Mackie-trained Flash Harriet in the sportingbet.com Novices’ Handicap Hurdle on Town Moor when the pair came to grief at the first flight.
Bowen said: “He is improving all the time but I think it will be another six weeks before he can think about returning to ride.
“He suffered a broken jaw and smashed his eye socket as well, but it could have been a lot worse.
“It was an awful fall and really, he’s lucky to be alive.”
