Huntingdon defeats the elements

This afternoon’s meeting at Huntingdon goes ahead after the track passed a third inspection.

An overnight frost forced clerk of the course Andrew Morris to check conditions at 8am and that initial inspection showed the track to be unraceable, while a further look at 10.30am also failed to yield a favourable result.

However, a third inspection at 12pm showed the track to be raceable and Morris is pleased to give the meeting the thumbs-up.

He said: “Temperatures have risen sufficiently and racing is on. It’s been a slow thaw but we have got there eventually.

“We don’t need to omit any hurdles or fences or anything but the ground has now been changed to good to soft.”
