Green light for Ascot
This afternoon's meeting at Ascot goes ahead as scheduled after the track passed a 6.30am precautionary inspection.
Clerk of the course Chris Stickels announced the early-morning check in view of the forecast sub-zero overnight temperatures and although they did touch around minus 2C, Stickels is delighted to report the frost sheets that covered the track have done their job.
He said: "Temperatures got down to between minus 1C and minus 2C but we're happy to give the meeting the go-ahead.
"It might get colder yet but we've passed the inspection and the covers have certainly helped."
