Hughes heads back for Jacqueline ride
Richard Hughes is set to return to India next month to ride the superstar filly Jacqueline.
Jacqueline created history in Mumbai on February 7 when becoming the first filly to complete a clean sweep of the country’s Classics.
Trained by Pesi Shroff and ridden by Hughes on each occasion, she came with a late charge to win the Indian Derby, having already taken the 1000 Guineas, 2000 Guineas and Oaks.
“I’m set to go out there again on March 6 – she is supposed to be running in an invitation race, something like our Champion Stakes,” said Hughes.
“She’s a great filly – she would definitely win a Group race over here.”
Hughes believes there is a possibility Jacqueline will compete internationally at some stage – but not this season.
