War declared at Navan
War Of Attrition will bid for his second successive victory over timber in the Ladbrokes.com Boyne Hurdle at Navan on Sunday.
The 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero may not be the force of old following a number of injury problems but he rolled back the years to record a popular success in last month’s Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park.
Trainer Mouse Morris would like to have a crack at the Grand National at Aintree with his 11-year-old before War Of Attrition heads into retirement, but he could instead head for the Cheltenham Festival if plans change.
“He was very good the last day but I think he has a bit more to do on Sunday,” said Morris.
“Hopefully he’ll run well again as he’s in great form at home and then we’ll have a think about where we go next.
“We’re waiting until the National weights come out next week before we make a decision but if he’s too high, the World Hurdle would be a definite possibility. I doubt he’ll run in both, though.”
