Ayr delay inspection
Hopes are rising that tomorrow's meeting at Ayr could get the go-ahead after officials delayed their planned inspection.
Clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski was forced to abandon today's meeting due to frost and she had initially called a 3.30pm inspection to assess conditions for tomorrow.
However, after a milder than expected night, Peplinski has put back that inspection to 6.45am tomorrow.
"I'm more optimistic about racing going ahead now as the forecast last night was a bit wrong and we only went down to -1C.
"We could have a maximum of 6C today so a 3.30pm inspection would be pointless really.
"The forecast is for -2C or -3C tonight so we have moved the inspection to 6.45am and I'm hopeful we could survive a single night at those temperatures if we are raceable by the end of today."
