Carlisle have abandoned this afternoon’s National Hunt meeting due to a frozen track.

Officials at the Cumbria venue gave the meeting every chance, inspecting the course three times during the morning.

But with overnight temperatures having dropped to minus 3C, clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch was left with no choice but to abandon following an assessment of conditions shortly before midday.

Tulloch said: “I’m afraid it (the frost) hasn’t moved as fast as we wanted it to, so we’re pulling stumps.

“The cloud cover has moved in and things haven’t warmed up as quickly as expected.”
