An 8am precautionary check had been pencilled in at Ludlow due to an adverse overnight forecast, but temperatures only dipped to around minus 1C.

The going on the chase course is good to soft, good in places.

The hurdles track is good to soft.

With overnight temperatures at Carlisle having dropped to minus 3C, clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch is hoping for improvement after staging an early-morning assessment.

He said: “It needs to improve – we are not raceable at the moment.

“But if the forecast is right, and we get some sunshine, we’d be hopeful of racing.”
