Wet Chepstow forced to abandon

Tomorrow’s meeting at Chepstow has fallen by the wayside due to waterlogging.

Course officials inspected at 8.30am but following further rain overnight on top of a substantial amount yesterday, the decision was taken to call a halt to proceedings early.

Clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: “It is raining now and has been since 6am.

“It is due to continue for another two to three hours and then start again at midnight.

“There is no chance the course will recover in that time. We had half an inch yesterday and the course simply can’t take any more so we thought we’d let people know early.”
