Wincanton set for inspection

Officials at Wincanton will hold a precautionary inspection at 8am on Thursday for the meeting later that afternoon.

The going is currently soft, heavy in places following 10 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours.

A further eight millimetres of rain is forecast before racing.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson is hopeful racing will take place.

He said: "We're due another eight millimetres today and tonight, but I'm fairly confident we can take more rain. We'll have a look just in case the forecast is wrong."
