Frost claims Folkestone

This afternoon’s meeting at Folkestone has been abandoned due to frost.

Clerk of the course Andrew Waitt originally planned to check the track at 7.30am but he delayed that inspection by two hours to give the meeting every chance of going ahead.

However, his efforts were in vain as the ground will not thaw in time.

He said: “We have had to call it off as the ground is frozen.

“We weren’t forecast a frost last night but it got down to -3.5C. We are up to about 5C now but there is a significant wind chill which is not helping matters.”
