Kempton’s National Hunt meeting on Saturday is subject to a further inspection at 3pm tomorrow afternoon.

Plans had been afoot to stage a replacement all-weather fixture at the track, but there is still a hope the starved jumps fans will have something to watch.

Clerk of the course Barney Clifford and his team inspected at 11am but feel it is prudent to look again.

“We are going to inspect again at 3pm tomorrow for Saturday,” said Clifford. “We’ll do that because the forecasts we have seen say that the temperature is due to rise.

“We have no frost on the National Hunt track but the crossings in the back straight are frozen. We’ll try to work those to get them raceable and we’ll give it every chance.”
