Warwick’s track is starting to thaw – but it may not be in time for Saturday’s totesport.com Classic Chase meeting.

Clerk of the course Andrew Morris has not flagged up an official inspection just yet, but the forecast is not ideal.

Morris said: “We’ve had a bit of a slow thaw over the weekend, although we had a bit of snow last night.

“Things have definitely improved since Friday and the forecast is an increase in temperatures, albeit a very gradual one.

“It should be about zero degrees overnight dipping into minus 1C, and about 2C during the day.

“But there might be further snow on Wednesday and it’s going to be a bit of a race against time.

“It’s still too early to make a decision (about an inspection), we’ll just monitor it day by day.”
