Renwick steps up recovery

Wilson Renwick plans to test out his troublesome knee this week ahead of an imminent return to the saddle.

The Hawick-based jockey had a fall from Fit To Drive at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day and has been lucky to miss virtually no jump racing ever since.

“Obviously I got the fall at Cheltenham and I thought it was just bruising to my calf and thigh,” said the 29-year-old.

“It was supposed to be three weeks and I’ve got one to go but I’ve been to see the doctor and it seems I have done a bit of damage to my knee.

“It’s only soft tissue and if Musselburgh was on this Friday I was hoping to ride, but right now I’m not able to do much with it.

“I’ve not been able to ride out, but I’ve been doing plenty of swimming. All being well I will ride out on Wednesday morning and hopefully be back next week.”
