Lingfield ready to race

This afternoon’s meeting at Lingfield goes ahead as scheduled after officials brought forward a planned 10am inspection.

Clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross initially announced a 6.30am precautionary inspection in view of the weather forecast and almost an inch of snow fell overnight.

This prompted officials to call a second check at 8.30am and after waiting just over an hour longer, MacKenzie Ross is happy to give the card the go-ahead.

“It’s good news and we’re happy to let racing go ahead,” said MacKenzie Ross. “It has stopped snowing now and the sun is out. We seem to be coping with the snow well. We’re happy with the track at the moment and we’ll continue to monitor things.”
