Lingfield and Kempton forced to abandon
This afternoon's all-weather fixture at Lingfield has been abandoned due to a shortage of ambulances.
Although the track was considered fine for racing - despite overnight temperatures having plummeted to -10.9C - the terrible conditions have led to a prioritisation of National Health Service resources.
Lingfield clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross said: "The Ambulance Service has been called into a state of emergency so they cannot attend the course.
"We obviously can't operate without the necessary safety precautions so the decision was taken out of our hands really."
This evening's all-weather fixture at Kempton has also been abandoned for the same reason.
